Sustainability + Design
Sustainability is a term used quite often these days. But what does it really mean for the golf industry? Sustainable developments use "green" technologies to lessen their impact on the environment. "Green" development is energy efficient. It uses water efficiently. It minimizes pollution and waste and uses natural maintenance practices. It reduces the overall impact to the environment. This type of development is no longer just a concept for staunch environmentalists. It is today's reality for today's development. Golf Resource Group believes it is our responsibility to the game of golf to find ways to be more responsible as to how we plan and build our developments. It is our mission to accelerate the adoption of practical and credible sustainable approaches to golf development. That is exactly why we have adopted this philosophy into the fabric of our company in order to educate ourselves and others on how golf development can become more "green." We have continued to forge our reputation on innovative ideas such the energy conservation programs in Southern California, and we lead by example with implementing cutting edge design concepts with the creation of The Golf Club at Sand Hollow Resort in Southern Utah, a course that is helping establish a new standard for the construction of golf courses.
"...16 percent of U.S. courses have been subject to mandatory water restrictions that are more stringent than normal allocations. The Northeast region has the most courses under mandatory restrictions, 33 percent, with the Upper West/Mountain region reporting 33 percent. In the North Central and Pacific, only 3 percent are under mandatory restrictions."
